For the month of August, SJW is celebrating Watershed Appreciation Month and we hope you’ll join us!

A watershed is an area of land that channels rainfall, snowmelt, and runoff into a common body of water. In fact, spanning from the San Francisco Bay to the Pacific Ocean, the entire bay area is one big watershed!

That is why signage throughout the region frequently reminds us of the direct connection between our actions and the health of our watershed. Disposing of certain materials improperly in yards or sewer systems can lead to negative impacts on water quality and our delicate ecosystem.

To safeguard the integrity of our watersheds and water supply, it's essential to manage and preserve the entire ecosystem, including its land, trees, and diverse species. This holistic approach ensures that our water resources remain safe and sustainable for generations to come.
